At the start of the Padyatra today, a public meeting was addressed by Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi, Debabrata Saikia, Pawan Singh Ghatowar, Rana Goswami and Bhupen Bora, where they gave examples of the miserable condition of the people that the BJP has pushed them to, saying that Assamese society is being buried by politics of race and caste of the BJP government. The BJP is dreamiong of occupying the seat of power by indulging in false promises and debt of several thousand crores, with which the BJP is living in luxury and creating beneficiaries. Price rise, unemployment problems are plaguing the common man. By spreading communal politics, the feelings of brotherhood and harmony are being destroyed.

This will only come to an end when the people rejects the BJP’s communal and anti-Assam forces. The Congress is committed to throwing out these powers and with the help of the people it will be possible, the leaders iterated. APCC president Bhupen Bora, while thanking the people for supporting the Bharat Jodo Yatra-Assam on behalf of the Congress party, urged the people to strengthen the hands of the party so that such communal, anti-Assam powers can be thrown out and the people can breathe in relief. Only lies and debt will not help the BJP run the state, by turning their backs to the people and with autocratic rule, dealing a death blow to democracy. President Shri Bora said that the BJP is failing on all fronts and to hide their failure, the BJP is trying new tricks to mislead the people.

The BJP is turning a blind eye to unchecked price hike, unemployment issues, deceiving the people. By spreading the communal poison in every village and town, the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led govt is gradually destroying the society. Shri Bora said the BJP and AIUDF should be rooted out by any means. It is time the people stood their ground, for the sake of democracy and the security of the Constitution, Shri Bora added.
