  • Bill Dermody of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate named Chairman of the Board for Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB)

    Needham and Natick, MA: Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate (http://commonmoves.com) today announced that Bill Dermody, Sales Manager for the company’s Needham and Dover offices, has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the Board for the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB).

    In this capacity, he will direct GBREB’s mission to represent the interests of all the sectors of the real estate community. The Greater Boston Real Estate Board consists of five organizations: Building Owners and Managers Association, Commercial Brokers Association, Greater Boston Association of Realtors®, Real Estate Finance Association, and the Rental Housing Association. GBREB traces its roots to 1889. The Board fosters and promote high ethical standards in all real estate transactions, monitor and comment upon legislative measures affecting real estate, protect private property rights, administer an arbitration process for settling business disputes, and provide outstanding continuing education for its membership.

    Dermody, a Needham resident and a 25-year Town Meeting Member in his hometown, joined Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate in 2016 with more than twenty years’ real estate experience.

     

    Dermody additionally serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Realtors and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors. He is past president of the Greater Boston Association of Realtors (GBAR) and the Massachusetts Young Mortgage Bankers Association.

    A graduate of Needham High School, Dermody is a graduate of Boston College and is a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager. He is the past President of the Needham Exchange Club and remains a member, chairing the Fourth of July celebration for several years. He is a former member of the Needham Park & Recreation Commission and of the Memorial Park Trustees. Dermody is the past President of the Needham-based Melick Foundation, in honor of the Town Moderator who served the community for 35 years. He has also served on the town’s Tercentenniary Committee.

    In addition, he spends time delivering “Traveling Meals” throughout the town. Dermody and his wife Cathy are parents to four children: Michael, Kristen, Caitlin, and Ryan. He and his family are active members of St. Joseph’s Church in Needham.
