Mumbai: The India Book of Records has felicitated Shlok Arvind, a grade 2 student of Billabong High International School (BHIS), Malad, with an honorary entry to its record book for his tremendous knowledge in the field of mapology and geography.

The seven-year-old received the honour in lieu of recognising national flags of 95 countries within a short span of one minute, besides naming their capitals. Shlok also successfully answered questions related to the subject with great accuracy.

Shlok’s mother Rajani Tiwari expressed her pleasure over her son’s achievement by saying, “The credit for Shlok’s achievement goes to the teachers of Billabong High International School. Their continuous efforts and motivation have helped him achieve this feat. Shlok was three-and-a-half-year-old when his interest in Mapology began to grow. His knowledge in the subject matter is extensive. There is no country, place, landscape, mountains, sea, oceans, or river that he cannot identify on the map.”

Delighted over Shlok’s achievement, Dr Madhu Singh, Principal of BHIS Malad, said, “Shlok’s achievement is a proud moment for all of us at Billabong High International School. As his mother said, he had a strong inclination towards Mapology since the beginning. We realised this and our teachers engaged him in gaining more proficiency in subject matter. We at Billabong strive to identify and nurture every child’s talent. Be it academic or non-academic, Billabong students have always proven their skills in leadership, collaboration and being a global citizen. Our focus is on a holistic curriculum that helps the students to identify their true self and pursue their dreams.”
