New Delhi ; In Uttar Pradesh, the police search is still on at Jawahar Bagh of Mathura, where violent clashes claimed 24 lives including two policemen on Thursday. Yesterday a huge cache of arms and ammunition left behind by unruly protesters was recovered from the area by the police. Meanwhile Hema Malini, local BJP MP today reached Mathura but police did not allow her to visit Jawahar Bagh area. She however visited the family of slain SP City Mukul Dwivedi and consoled them.
AIR correspondent reports that the BJP leaders are staging a sit on dharna near SSP office at Mathura demanding CBI enquiry into the matter. They said that the financial aid given to the kin of police officers is insufficient. The local administration is maintaining a strict vigil with huge deployment of security in Mathura.
Moreover the BSP supremo Mayawati has also demanded CBI inquiry into Mathura incident. Addressing a press conference in Lucknow today she blamed UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of not being serious about the incident. She said Chief Minister should have visited Mathura but he is visiting Bundelkhand instead.
