Guwahati : Assam Chief Minister’s zero tolerance against corruption is no longer worthwhile. All the corrupt Congress ministers and MLAs of the Assam Pradesh Congress have now been inducted into their parties by the BJP. Further, the CID had launched an inquiry against former Congress minister Gautam Rai and Ajanta Neg in the 2000 scam in the Social Welfare Department.

That There were allegations of major scams against the two. Both of them were accused of a major scam, after which both the Congress leaders wanted to join the BJP and save themselves. Two MlAs from Assam expelled from Congress on Tuesday, about four months before the assembly elections, joined the BJP. Ajanta Neg, who represents golaghat assembly constituency, is a three-time former minister, while Lakhipur MLA Rajdeep Gola is an influential “T Tribes” leader in southern Assam. Both the parties joined the BJP in a function in the presence of Assam unit president Ranjit Kumar Das and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Former MLA Banendra Kumar Muurbani also took the edge off the BJP’s ally Bodoland People’s Front. A few days ago, the Congress had suspended Mr. Neg and Gola on charges of anti-party activities.

Dr. Sarma, convener of an anti-Congress forum of regional parties, called the North East Democratic Alliance, resorted to Twitter to welcome the trio. “This is a happy day for the BJP in Assam as two prominent politicians have joined the party. We believe that their involvement will help our party reach greater heights. Mr Gola said, the Congress has become a party without any direction and discipline. “There is no vision of it,” he said. However, on Saturday night, he met both union Home Minister Amit Shah. And had a close meeting to discuss the forthcoming elections. He was greeted by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and north Eastern NDA convener Himanta Biswa Sharma. After meeting the Union Home Minister, both the Congress MLAs had informed about the decision to join the BJP. The senior BJP leader said that many more Congress leaders are going to join the BJP, which will be done in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on January 18, 2021.
