    Jorhat: With mighty Brahmaputra along with its tributaries in Upper Assam zone is all receding very fast which has come down to 2 metres as recorded by Central Water Commission (CWC) at Neematighat on Monday evening, as the suspension of ferry suspension from and to Majuli enters eight day today. Moreover heavy water current and heavy fog looms over large within the mighty Brahmaputra and adjacent areas . While the population of 3000 comprising of 320 families from Daini Gaon, Charigaon Chapori, Notun Gohain Gaon, Purona Gohain Gaon and Goriya Bhoga gaonare still taking shelter along the embankment with cows, goats and other pets,  passing hard days that witnessed to have entered eight day today.

    The district administration distributed flood relief materials like rice, dal, salt, kerosene along with baby food in affected areas of Jorhat West , Teok, Titabor Revenue circle, informed Jayanta Goswami, the incharge of the District Disaster Management Authority here.

    Moreover the Inland Water Transport Authority is all expecting that the weather condition might turn after the prevailing situation of fog , it predicts about receding of water level along with clear weather is the indication of the fog, said sources. The district administration started distributing relief materials towards North Western areas among the worst hit flood victims as the administration has pressed over 26 six wheeler trucks to ferry out essential commodity from the Food Corporation of India’s godowns in Cinnamora since early hours , said sources from the administration here today
