Mumbai : Mumbai Pickle Power defeated the Hyderabad Superstars by 3-2 in their World Pickleball League (WPBL) 2026 fixture at the Jio World Garden tonight. This was Mumbai’s first win of this campaign. After plenty of near-misses, the Sam Basford-coached unit produced a cohesive, collective effort to come out triumphant in a clash that went right down the wire.
In women’s singles, Hyderabad’s Seone Mendez secured a sweeping 27-9 win against Jada Bui. Sabrina Mendez came in momentarily using the Pickle Play option, but Mendez was flawless in her approach, as she ensured that the Superstars got a firm foot ahead first in this contest.
Mumbai Pickle Power, however, roared back through their trusted pairing of Brandon Lane and Glauka Carvajal Lane, who swept aside Lauren Mercado alongside Josep Canyadell by a thumping margin of 16-7 in mixed doubles.
Max Green rode on that momentum in the men’s singles match. Green had endured a fairly challenging tournament thus far, but he struck back with a 14-10 triumph over Jardim. Green was belligerent in his approach, determined to capitalise upon the developed rhythm from the preceding match, and it’s that very trait that propelled Mumbai to gain a 2-1 advantage upon the conclusion of his fixture.
The women’s singles match was a rather one-sided affair for Hyderabad though, as Glauka and Sabrina fell short by 20-7 against Kaitlynn Hart and Mendez.
Mumbai sealed the match in the final men’s doubles match, as Brandon partnered Santhosh Narayanan to win 9-6 against Louis Laville and ex-Pickle Power star Mayur Patil, handing the home side a much-awaited maiden win of this second campaign of the competition.
