Mangaldai   : A huge area of crop land of several villages under Mangaldai revenue circle of Darrang district including Borbali , Saru-Outola, Barampur , Daha , Adhikari , Chamuapara , Mojachuburi , Nagarbahi etc have suddenly  been submerged by the water of river ‘Noa’ when the water current of the river washed away a sizeable portion of the embankment of the river at Borbali village on the midnight of Tuesday. The local people alleged negligence on the part of a section of  officials in the Water Resource Mangaldai Division in taking necessary care on that relatively weak portion of the embankment especially during the Monsoons . The people has demanded urgent repair of that breached portion of the embankment however no senior official of the Water Resource Department allegedly have not visited the site to take the stock of situation till filing of this report . It may be mentioned here that due to  non repair of almost all the old embankments in the district under the Water Resource Department have turned out to be vulnerable and such incidents of breach of embankment has happened to very common in the district during rainy season .
