BSNL Mobile Internet Speeds Up

Kochi : As part of BSNL’s efforts to provide better mobile internet facility to its subscribers in Kerala, a new Nokia GGSN (Gateway GPRS Serving Node) serving exclusively to Kerala mobile customers started functioning at Panampilly Nagar Telephone Exchange in Kochi.  The system capable of providing enhanced data speeds and better overall customer experience was formally inaugurated today (Monday, 18th June 2018) by Shri. R. K. Mittal, Director of its Mobile Operations in the presence of Dr. P.T. Mathew, Chief General Manager of BSNL’s Kerala Circle.  The GGSN system at Chennai was responsible for handling the data requirements of entire South India so far.  The new system capable of offering the best to its customers in Video Streaming including that of the ongoing Football World Cup matches, High Speed data requirements, Live Gaming etc also incorporates the latest features in 4G technology including VoLTE. The commissioning of the new large capacity system, which is capable of handling the existing and the ever increasing data needs of Kerala customers, culminates in the realization of the long standing demand for setting up such a system exclusively for Kerala. Dr. P.T. Mathew stated that the deployment of Rs. 250 Crores worth mobile equipment, that includes 2600 Mobile BTSs (Base Transceiver Stations), for massive expansion of BSNL’s mobile network in Kerala, is in progress and is expected to be completed in two months, which will further improve the mobile coverage and data speeds across the state.
