    Cancer screening and anti tobacco camp in Assam’s Mangaldai befitting AIDS Day

    Mangaldai  : On the occasion of World AIDS Day, one Free Health Camp cum Awareness on Cancer diseases and Screening for UTERINE Cervical Cancer was organised here at No 1Gerimari village by AMC ( Assam Medical College ) Alumni Association and Academic Forum, Guwahati in collaboration with Joint Director of Health Services, Darrang and its local unit of Mahila Samiti  An Awareness meeting on the ill effects of Tobacco on Health was also organised by the District Tobacco Control Cell , Darrang. Dr N K Beria SDM&HO Darrang as the speaker elaborately discussed about the hazards of Tobacco use and cancer diseases of mouth, breast, uterus etc
     Screening for pre-cancerous conditions and cancer of mouth is done by a team of Dental Surgeon under the supervision Dr Himangshu Das.
    More than 100 patients mainly women of reproductive age group, children and senior citizens were reportedly benefitted from the camp.
    A team from Dr Anjana Phookan Memorial Foundation under the supervision of Dr Shamsul Haque , Senior Gynaecologist, Mangaldai Civil Hospital carried out the Pap Smear Testing for the screening of Uterine Cervical Cancer of the attending women patients above thirty five years of age.
    The day long camp was attended by Doctors, Paramedical staff, members of Mahila Samiti, school teachers, staff besides local leading persons including prominent social activist Renu Nath.
