The eco fair showcased sustainability initiatives and eco-friendly products by employees and external organizations focused on sustainability
Mumbai – Capgemini under its Business Resource Group (BRG) Sustainability hosted Prithvi Mela in Mumbai, which is one of its kind events to create awareness and engage employees with varied topics around sustainability, both internally and externally. Prithvi Mela, the Earth fair celebrates sustainability in all its manifestations, unites all employees in support of the effort to create a sustainable world, and inspires people to live more sustainably.
At Prithvi Mela in Mumbai, Capgemini showcased sustainability initiatives demonstrated by Capgemini India Corporate Real Estate Services (ICRES) and Centre of Excellence (CoEs) for employees, clients, and partners. Stalls were set up around eco-friendly products by employees and external sustainable organizations. There were also multiple employee engagement activities aligned with Capgemini’s sustainability agenda, like cycling for energy, a photography zone, social media interaction zone, and a pottery corner. Additionally, there were showcase zones where employees displayed upcycled and recycled products along with external organizations exhibiting sustainable fashion, accessories, and handcrafted products. To create awareness among the employees, a sustainability quiz was organized which had active participation from internal teams.
A workshop on warli painting, the folk painting of Maharashtra which is dated back to 10th century AD was one of the key attractions of the Mela. Employees had a chance to learn the art of warli and a warli art wall was put up in the campus. A panel discussion with social media influencers about the role of social media in spreading the word about sustainability and inspiring action was held in connection with the Mumbai Prithvi Mela. The mela hosted another panel discussion bringing together environmentalists who are engaged in beach clean-up, in making vegetable gardens in backyards etc. to promote the concept of creating a better place to live. The mela also hosted panel discussions on various topics that look at sustainability from different perspectives, including green stories from employees and Capgemini leaders sharing their perspectives.
Prithvi Mela Mumbai is the fourth edition in the series of eco fairs organized by Capgemini in India, after the eventful Prithvi Mela in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kolkata.

In line with this, The Group has set net zero target is to achieve a 90% reduction in all carbon emissions across all scopes (1, 2 and 3) by 2040 compared to a baseline of 2019. At the same time, Capgemini has also set more ambitious near-term (2030) targets. These changes reflect our continued commitment to address climate change in line with the latest climate science and put Capgemini amongst the first group of companies to have their net zero targets validated against the new SBTi standard.
