Capital enjoys bright sun after morning chill, fog

Morning chill and fog gave way to a bright sun in the national capital on Wednesday with Weatherman predicting similar conditions for Thursday.

The mercury was recorded at a minimum of 8 degree Celsius, up by 0.3 deg C from Tuesday’s coldest of the season while the maximum was at 23.4 degrees as against 23.3 degrees the previous day.

A fog cover enveloped the city early morning bringing the visibility below 1,000 metres.

The normal visibility was recorded at 950 metres at 9:30 am while the Runway Visibility Range was 600 metres.

There were no reports of any delays in flight schedules due to the fog cover.

The humidity was recorded between 38 and 97 per cent.

The Weatherman predicted similar weather conditions for Thursday with a foggy beginning of the day and temperature between eight and 22 deg C.

According to statistics provided by Weather Office, the mean minimum temperature for the month of December is 8.2 deg C and maximum is at 23 deg C.

The lowest ever minimum temperature for this month is 1.1 deg C recorded on 26th December, 1945 while that for the highest maximum was 29.3 deg C recorded on 3rd December, 1987.

Though there were very little rainfall recorded since 2004 during this month, the record in this regard is 53.3 mm on 15th December, 1894.
