  • Central team meets TN CM, visits flood hit areas for final assessment

    Chennai:  A central team headed by TVSN Prasad, a Joint Secretary with the Union Home Ministry, met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa in the state secretariat in Chennai on Tuesday s morning.  The tem is to visit the flood affected locations of the city and other districts. A media release from the state government says the central team lauded the state administration for preventing any spread of epidemic during the floods during its meeting with the Chief Minister.

    The same inter-ministerial team inspected the flood damages during the first spell of heavy downpour in the state in the last week of November. Still heavier spells occurred in the first week of December and the state administration gave a demand seeking a total of Rs 25,912.45 crore as flood aid.

    In this backdrop, the team members are scheduled to visit many places in Chennai this afternoon and other districts tomorrow for a final assessment of the damages. After the Chief Minister’s interaction, chief secretary Gnanadesikan and senior officials explained the trail of devastations to the central team.
