  • Central teams to take stock of situation in Cyclone Fani affected areas

    Two central teams are scheduled to visit Odisha to take stock of the situation in Cyclone Fani affected areas. An Inter-Ministerial Central Team led by a senior officer of the Ministry of Home affairs will reach at Bhubaneswar today and will conduct a field survey to estimate the crop damage caused by the extremely severe cyclone that occurred a week ago.

    Similarly, another central team led by power secretary to visit the affected areas tomorrow and assess the damage caused by cyclone Fani. In a Tweet message union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the teams will undertake necessary discussions with the Odisha government so as to ensure time-bound and expeditious restoration of power, telecommunications and banking services in the affected areas.

    Meanwhile, Odisha government yesterday announced a special package of 1,600 crore rupees for livelihood support for cyclone Fani-affected people in the state.

    Announcing this chief minister Naveen Patnaik said agriculture input subsidy of 18 thousand rupees per hectare for all types of perennial crops will be provided.

    The special assistance includes packages for various types of farmers in the State including those involved in fish farming, cattle rearing and even self-help groups engaged in the commercial farming business.
