Centre announces cash awards for 12th class meritorius students from state govt schools

The government has announced a cash award of one lakh rupees each to about 200 meritorious students who have passed 12th class CBSE examination this year. An official release said the students who have studied from 9th to 12th classes in state government schools affiliated to CBSE will be eligibile. Out of the total 200 awards, 50 each will be for students from Science, Commerce, Humanities and Vocational streams.
The award scheme was approved by Human Resources Development Minister M M Pallam Raju in New Delhi last evening. The Minister expressed satisfaction over this year’s pass percentage of 82.1 per cent which is the highest in the last five years.
