  • Chaos erupts at Hong Kong’s airport for 2nd day as pro-democracy protesters stage protest

    Published on August 14, 2019

Chaos erupted at Hong Kong’s airport for the second consecutive day as pro-democracy protesters staged a protest outside the airport that affected the operation of flights. To control the protesters, police fired pepper spray and beaten the protesters.

All check-ins were cancelled on Tuesday after thousands of protesters wearing their signature black T-shirts made barricades using luggage trolleys to prevent passengers from passing through security gates. Scuffles broke out between protesters and travellers who pleaded to be allowed past.

Hong Kong’s ten-week long political crisis has seen millions of people take to the streets demanding for freedom. This is the biggest challenge to Chinese rule on the Hong Kong since its handover from Britain in 1997.
