Chdambaram’s remarks on J&K cheap politics: Venkaiah

New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday  described senior Congress leader P Chidambaram’s remarks on Jammu and Kashmir as cheap politics. Chidambaramhad said the promises made during Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to India were broken.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr. Naidu it was the Congress which ruled the country over 50 years and it also the state then who failed to keep the promise. He said making such statements for immediate political gain is not good. The Minister added that the problem in J&K is not due to Narendra Modi government and country knows who mishandled the issue.

Naidu also attacked the critics over their view that the killed terrorist should have been arrested and questioned why there is so much sympathy for a terrorist who was booked in 15 criminal cases.

The Minister also criticized Mr. Chidambaram for blaming the ruling PDP-BJPalliance for the present crisis. He asserted that the BJP and its government are committed for the unity and integrity of the country as well as development of J&K
