  • In Badminton, ace Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth and the pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy on Wednesday entered the pre-quarterfinals of the China Open at Fuzhou.

    In the Men’s Singles opening round, fifth-seeded Srikanth defeated Frenchman Lucas Corvee, in straight games, 21-12, 21-16 to progress. HS Prannoy, however, bowed out.

    In Women’s Singles, Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka made a first round exit after losing to Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong 12-21, 16-21. Rio Olympics Silver medalist and third seed PV Sindhu has already booked a place in the pre-quarterfinals, while Saina Nehwal is not taking part in the tournament.

    In Men’s Doubles, Chirag and Satwiksairaj made it to the Round-of-16 with a stunning 23-21, 24-22 win over the seventh-seeded Danish team of Mads Pieler Kolding and Mats Conrad-Petersen.
