Christmas is being celebrated today with religious fervour and gaiety. The day is observed by Christians all over the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. On the occasion people decorate their houses by putting a Christmas tree, illuminated paper star, Holly wreaths and exchange gifts.
Midnight services are held in churches where people offer prayers and sing carols to welcome the Saviour. On the Christmas day, people celebrate by feasting, merry making and visiting relatives and friends. President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have greeted the people on Christmas.
The President said, Jesus Christ symbolised peace, harmony and hope. He said, Christmas is a celebration of human values that nurture mutual caring and sharing and transform life itself into a festival. The Vice President said, Christmas is a joyous occasion that reminds people of the eternal values of compassion and forgiveness, love and empathy.
