CII-LetsVote ‘Green Rally’ to Promote Zero Emission To make wishes come true for 1000 school children

Hyderabad: A “Green Rally” is being organised in the City on January 22, 2010. The bicycle rally, which will start from people’s plaza, is being organised by the CII and LetsVote an NGO. 21 Election Commissioners from South Asia will join the Green Rally. The rally starts at 3.00 pm.

Apart from promoting bicycle as a way to reduce ozone and improve the air quality this Green Rally is organised with a cause. Many corporate and individual donors have come forward to sponsor bicycles for the rally that will be donated to underprivileged school all over Andhra Pradesh. Over 1000 bicycles sponsored by various organisations and individuals will be donated to the children to alleviate their comfort in pursuing their studies and life pursuits on the day of the rally.

“On-road vehicles cause half the ozone-forming emissions. The objective of conducting this Green Rally is to raise awareness about the need for air quality improvement in our city. We hope to also bring joy to 1000s of children through this initiative by sponsoring bicycles to them” J A Chowdary, Co-Convener LetsVote said.

“Many organizations have an interest in raising awareness of ecological concerns, and eco-friendly promotional ways are a great way to do it. CII is committed to promote going green and continues to extend its whole hearted support to people initiatives by welcoming new ideas for a clean environment.” said Shakti Sagar, Chariman-CII-AP

Bhaskar Reddy, Co-Convener, LetsVote in his address said the Green Rally is not just a bicycle rally, but an entire experience that unites companies like ours, communities to promote social awareness about going green, ‘the importance of Voter registration and Go to Vote’ among the youth and most importantly, brings joy and hope to deserving children.

People from all walks of life, age groups and professions can register to take part in the Green Bicycle Rally. The participants will cycle at a moderate speed on dedicated bicycle lanes along the route marked by the organizers.
