Civil Liability for nuclear damage bill 2010 likely to be tabled in parl

The Government on Wednesday night cut a deal with the BJP and other Opposition parties barring the Left to arrive at a consensus on the Nuclear Liability bill.

A Parliamentary committee looking into the legislation is understood recommended a three fold hike in the compensation cap to Rs 1500 crore.

The committee is likely to table its report on Wednesday in the parliament.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday met BJP leaders and conveyed government’s readiness to address major concerns.
