‘Clean and Green Village Mission’ launched at Samparidisa village of Dima Hasao

Haflong : Brand ambassador of the state forest department Ananda Khataniar launched Clean and Green Village Mission, an initiative by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal under MyGov Assam, at Samparidisa village of Dima Hasao district 22 km from Haflong  at a programe on Thursday.

Samparidisa village of Dima Hasao is one of the 33 villages of the state selected for this mission with one village from each district.

The inaugural function was attended by MLA, B B Hagjer, EM, NCHAC Devojit Bathari, C F, Ramen Das, DFO, N Jeme, Tunu Langthasa etc and was organised by MyGov Assam in association with the district administration.

Addressing the gathering, environmentalist Ananda Khataniar appealed to villagers to commit themselves for the cause of conservation of environment as it has become very essential to save the environment from degradation.

He requested the senior citizens to educate youths and also women folk about importance of conservation and the need to plant more saplings. He also stressed the need to protect and nurture the saplings as part of plantation drives organised annually.

He laid emphasis on reducing use of plastic and banning plastic materials for single use and appealed to the villagers to maintain hygiene and sanitation at all cost.

The youths of Samparidisa later submitted a memorandum with request for promoting the village as one of the tourist centre of the district and also to improve the road communication to their village.

A package of sports materials also distributed among the youths of Samparidisa. The programme  was concluded with the plantation by the guests and dignitaries in and around the village.
