CM Prithviraj Chavan gives away Karmayogini Awards

Mumbai : The Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) and American Alumni Assocation (AAA)  took a huge step forward in recognizing the women of Maharashtra, who have proved themselves able and active champions on the social, economic and governance front.

The Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri.Prithviraj Chavan gave away the following awards

Social Impact Karmayogini: This was won by Nayan Khadapkar of Konkan Bazaar. Prema Gopalan of Swayam Shikshan Prayog was the first runner up and Archana Triambakrao Gaikwad of Aadhar Tirth Aashram Nasik was the second runner -up.

Business Impact Karmayogini: This was won by Monica Gupta of Craftsvilla.com. Shweta Patil of Shweta engineers Pune and the second runners up was jointly held by Nina Lekhi of Baggit and Pari Zaveri of Third Sector Partners.

Governance Karmayogini-elected was won by Shalini Vikhe Patil President Ahmadnagar Zilla Parishad. The first runner up was Saroj Shelgaonkar, sarpancha of Shelgaon Nanded and the second runner up was Nandatai Narnaware of Bhivapur Panchayat Samiti.

Governance Karmayogini – bureaucracy was won by Harvinder Kau Waraich DCP at Kalina Training Centre. The first runner up was Lata Sambhaji Donde, IPS officer Shahu Nagar Police Station Mumbai and the second runner up was Jyotsna Vilas Rasam.

Congratulating the winners, the Chief Minister said that ” my own mother was a successful parliamentarian. I have learnt a lot from her and am sure that the karmayogini awards will push the boundaries of gender equality and encourage more women to achieve their dreams.”

Also present at the function were Vithal Kamat, President MEDC, Harshal Shah, President American Alumni Association, Ravi Budhiraja, Director General MEDC, eminent  stateswoman Chandra Iyengar, Chaitanya Shah, member American Alumni Association, Rama Bijapurkar, market strategy consultant, Anjali Raina, Executive Director, Harvard Business  School India Research Centre, Reeta Gupta, organiser Karmayogini awards and owner Network RGComm and Karon Shaiva, Program Ambassador, Cherie Blair Foundation.

The Grand Jury for the awards comprised Mrs. Vandana Krishna (Secretary Women and Child Welfare-Government of Maharashtra), Mrs  Pratima Umerji (Ex-Secy Law, Government of Maharashtra), Mrs.Vidya Shah, Chairperson Edelgive Foundation, Mrs.Aparajita Agarwal, Co-Founder Intellecap, Ashoka Fellow Shilpi Kapoor, Champion of the Disabled and Founder BarrierBreak Technologies, Mrs.Urja Shah, SETCO Foundation.
