New Delhi: The 319th birth anniversary of Mahatma Teyongsi Sirijunga was celebrated on Monday with much festivity in the premises of Sirijunga Mangheem situated at Martam, Gyalshing District of Sikkim organised by Mahatma Teyongsi Sirijunga Sawan Yen Celebration Committee. Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Golay (Tamang) graced the auspicious occasion as the Chief guest.
Each year, the Limboo community of the State offer their reverence to the 18th-century scholar, educator and philosopher Teyongsi Sirijunga, to honour his impeccable contribution as a revivalist of the age-old legacy in Sikkim and Limbuwan, Nepal. Adherents of the community regardless of their distinct social affiliation congregate at the day-long celebration and reminisce efforts of the eminent scholar.
The CM said that the State Government has always promoted equal opportunities for every community to celebrate their respective beliefs without any discrepancies. Communal harmony and conservation of the embedded religious values of each and every community of the State is of the highest priority to the State Government, assured the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister encouraged for collective approach in favour of the upliftment of the State and stressed on the need for cultural inclusiveness amongst communities. He firmly believed that the general populace of the State with the possession of distinct capabilities would surely propel the state towards greater glory.
Chief Minister affirmed the State Government’s persistent intervention towards its resolution on allocation of the Limboo- Tamang seat and urged for the timely support in favour from all concerned. On the first week of December a delegation led by him will proceed to Delhi for deliberation in regard, informed Chief Minister.
Chief Minister informed on various uplifting and development projects in favour of the aspirations of the community and pointed out initiatives been undertaken across the state. He motivated concerned stakeholders to work with more than the required enthusiasm and assist the state government in the completion of all projects within the stipulated time.
Chief Minister even highlighted the State government’s flagship schemes, incentives and interventions namely the Vatsalya Yojana, Sikkim Garib Aawash Yojana, Sikkim Urban Aawash Yojana, Shrawan Kumar Yojana and Regularisation on Eight Years of Services.
CM PS Golay while speaking on the recent Fish Mela held at Sreebadam, informed that Upper Sreebadam had been declared as Trout Village of Sikkim. He also indicated that the Fisheries Directorate of Sikkim will be converted into a Department soon.
The programme also had the participation of Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Political Secretary to CM, Advisors, Chairmen, Zilla Adhyaskhas of Gyalshing and Soreng, DC Gyalshing, DIPG Namchi, concerned departmental Heads, Panchayat members, Celebration Committee- 2023, representatives of Limboo Associations and the general public at large.
