Bengaluru: CMR University, one of Bangalore’s leading private universities, celebrated their Founder’s Day today by awarding 167 scholarships, 17 Sports scholarships & 17 leadership awards, for encouraging and motivating students and pledging for the betterment of the society for 30+ years, as part of its founding principles.
Chikka Muniyappa Reddy (CMR), in whose memory the CMR Group of Institutions was founded, during his time used to teach children in his village and moved on to establish CMR University, building it to be one of the reputed universities in Bengaluru. Since its inception, it was the vision of CMR University to help and encourage students from all strata of society and make education accessible for all.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Shri Basavaraj Shivalingappa Horatti, Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council, emphasized the importance of education in our lives. He urged everyone to seize every opportunity to learn and gain knowledge. Shri Horatti expressed his appreciation for the initiatives undertaken by CMR University to enhance and provide a conducive learning environment for students. Furthermore, he pledged his support for all the institution’s future endeavors.
On the event of its Founder’s Day, CMR University and CMRGOI organized various activities and facilitations were given including CMR Memorial Merit Scholarships, Sports Scholarships and Leadership Awards. The total scholarship for the academic year 2023-24 is around 7 Crores.
Dr. K. C. Ramamurthy, IPS (Retd.), Chairman, CMR University and CMR Group of Institutions,and Former Member of Rajya Sabha, said in his speech that they have been working hard to fulfill and realize the visions and goals that have been entrusted to them by Shri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy and are trying their best to provide the best education and care for the students.

We celebrate this day in memory of my grandfather Late Shri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy whom we fondly call CMR. He was a great visionary who promoted education despite being not highly educated. His generosity in funding scholarships for students is a tradition we carry on proudly every year.”
Dr. K C Raju Reddy, Trustee. CMR Jnanadhara Trust and Shri KC Jaganath Reddy, Secretary, CMR Jnanadhara Trust were the guests of honor for the occasion and Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy, Chancellor, Shri K R Jayadeep, Pro chancellor, CMR University and Dr. H B Raghavendra, Vice Chancellor, CMR University was also present on the occasion.
Learning is a continuous process and these scholarships and awards motivates students to become better versions of themselves. CMR University, a private university has taken up upon itself to make it possible by walking on the footsteps of its founder.
