Bengaluru: City-based CMR National Public School (CMR NPS) students are organizing Accelerate 2K18 – Run for a Better Bengaluru on Saturday 17th November 2018, 5 AM onwards. There are 3 categories – 2Kms, 5Kms and 10Kms, which participants can choose from. The start and the finish point of all the runs will be CMR National Public School, HBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar. Kannada actress Roopika will be the chief guest of the event and will flag off the run.

‘Accelerate’ is a marathon organized and managed by the students of Grade 11 of CMR NPS as a part of service learning program. The marathon is open to participants of all ages and will bring together the student communities and the general public. It is being organized with the aim to promote awareness to all the general public and to give them a sense of civic responsibility in protecting the environment. The funds raised will be used for spot fixing by the students covering 5Kms radius around Kalyan Nagar and plant saplings across Bengaluru, to bring back its glory of a clean city. The cleaning drive will cover over 50,000 square feet. The process will begin with students taking pictures, identifying affected areas and paint the walls, make graffiti, place flower pots, etc. to beautify the identified spot. The students will also be planting 5,000 saplings across Bengaluru. The students have committed themselves to make Bengaluru a ‘Greener’ and ‘Cleaner’ city.

Over 600 participants have registered for the run. CMR NPS students are organizing Accelerate 2K18 with a mission to reach out to maximum people and garner public support to the cause they are working for. The participants can also register on the spot. Online registration can be done at:
