In Jammu and Kashmir, Congress and National Conference have announced a pre-poll alliance for Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing a joint press conference in Jammu today, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah said, Congress will contest Jammu and Udhampur Lok Sabha seats in Jammu Division and National Conference will fight from Srinagar.

They said, there will be a friendly contest between the two parties in Anantnag and Baramulla Lok Sabha seats in the Kashmir Valley.

Discussions are on for an arrangement for the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat. Dr Farooq Abdullah will be the joint candidate of National Conference and Congress from his current Srinagar Parliamentary seat.

Reacting to the development, State BJP Spokesperson Brigadier Anil Gupta described the Congress-NC alliance as opportunistic.

Meanwhile, two nominations were filed for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency.  The first nomination was filed by PoJK Refugee leader Rajiv Chunni, as an Independent candidate. The second nomination was filed by Syed Aqib Hussain of newly formed Independent Peoples Party before Returning Officer at Deputy Commissioners’ office in Jammu.
