Hyderabad (Hindusthan Samachar,) : Both the Congress and TRS seems to be scared with poll alliance reached between TDP and BJP. Fearing the alliance would be formidable force in the Telangana region, both the Congress and TRS worrying now they would suffer badly if goes on their own with out understanding.
With only two more days left for filing nominations in Telangana region, they found no time for reaching formal seat sharing agreement. However, both the parties getting ready to reach tactic understanging.
Immediatley after TDP and BJP alliance was declared, Congress high command withheld its list of candidates for Assemblypolls in Telangana region at the eleventh hour. To send a positive signal to TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Congress denied Medak Lok Sabha seat sitting MP and film star Vijayasanthi, from where Chandrasekhar Rao is proposing to contest.
She was elected as TRS candidate in 2009, but last year suspended from the party as she started showing adamant attitude against leadership after she was told Chandrasekhar Rao was intending to contest from here and she may be given some Assembly seat. Later, she joined Congress party only after party president Sonia Gandhi given her personnel assurance should would be given Medak Lok Sabha seat.
For the last couple of months she has been moving in the constituency stating that she would be contesting again. But she was shocked for giving seat to some unknown person Dr Sravan Reddy, who is till now moving claiming to be YSR Congress Party candidate. Observers felt this arrangement was made only to give easy way for Chadnrasekhar Rao to win the poll and also to avoid embarrassment to contest again his former party MP.
According to sources, TRS Secretary General Dr K Keshava Rao is in touch with senior Congress leaders. It may be recalled he is former Pradesh Congress Committee President and only last year joined TRS. He has close association with Congress high-command being former AICC Working Committee member. He is reportedly holding back-channel talks with the TRS for a possible ‘understanding’ if not official seat-sharing or alliance.
Interestingly, the TRS has so far announced candidates for only 73 of the 119 Assembly seats leaving out 46 ‘ almost exactly the same number of seats the TDP has offered to the BJP.
It seems Congress and TRS are working out a mechanism by which the ruling party can take on the BJP head on in the all the constituencies where the saffron party is in fray.
That, of course, does not solve the problem of accommodating the interests of Congress in constituencies where the TRS has already announced candidates. Party sources said that high-command is keen not to allow BJP-TDP alliance to gain from divided Congress-TRS.
