    Jorhat:  The first ever dead body carrying ferry services between Jorhat to Majuli is almost near in completion with the assistance from the MLA development fund of Majuli Island district will be pressed into services very soon which is likely to be inaugurated in presence of Majuli local MLA Sarbananda Sonowal within the month of August, said Department of Health Services here today.

     

    According to sources it was a long pending demand for the people of Majuli island to carry dead body those who have died at various hospitals at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat etc., or at various places or during untoward incidents or moreover for which patients are taken to various hospitals for higher treatment and die after month or week long treatment but after non-recovery when they die or collapse their bodied were needed to reach their native home which everyone needs for their family members to receive the dead body.

     

    Earlier it was only an affordable means for those family members who could afford to hire ferry between 10 to 20 thousand to carry the dead body to reach to their home for which they need to pay for three to four roadway and waterway for transportation charges that almost touches to the tune of a huge amount of money which ultimately for the islanders a hope for a change will come into services in a day or two for which Majuli MLA cum Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is likely to inaugurate the service which will work 24X7 to receive dead body to Majuli which will also have the capacity to carry six to ten two wheelers and a four wheeler from Neematighat to various ghats to Majuli within a day or two, said administrative sources here today.

    Moreover it may be mention that the speed boat constructed at the cost of Rs 10 lakh from the MLA development fund for the people of Majuli island. Sais officials here.
