Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today said, there is a surplus foodgrain production in the country. Briefing media in New Delhi, Mr Tomar said, Narendra Moid led government has always accorded priority to the growth of agriculture sector.
He informed that since the inception PM KISAN, around 71 thousand crore rupees have been transferred into the bank accounts of eligible farmers.
He said, during the lockdown period, 17 thousand 986 crore rupees were disbursed to the farmers.He said, there is no dearth of food grain and milk and vegetables are also available in the lockdown period.
Mr Tomar said, 57.07 lakh hectare area has been brought under sowing of summer crops against 41.37 hectare registering an increase of 38 per cent. The Minister said, this year too the country will achieve the more than the target set for food grain production as the monsoon is expected to be normal.
