In principle, both the Left parties says at national level they are ready to allay with any party other than Congress and BJP. But in  Telangana region, CPI is touching Congress door-steps seeking alliance so that to safeguard their political identity.

In order to put it in a catchy position, the CPI is trying to broker peace between the TRS and Congress even though the two parties had a public spat and vowed not to join hands.  First CPI leaders met TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao and proposed for poll alliance.

After ruling out alliance with Congress, Rao responded positively and said party-committee headed by Secretary General K Keshav Rao will hold discussions with them on issue of sharing seats. CPI leaders held discussions with Keshava Rao and submitted a list of 3 Lok Sabha and 22 Assembly segments in Telangana region stating that they would like to contest. However, CPI later failed to get any response from TRS and started open dialogue with Congress.

CPI state secretary K Narayana met Telangana PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah and tried to persuade him to reopen dialogue with the TRS — this despite TRS President Chandrasekhar Rao blasting Lakshmaiah and even branding him a Seemandhra agent.

Lakshmaiah told them that Congress is ready for seat sharing with CPI, but expressed his helplessness to have such arrangement with TRS, as the later is adamant in this respect.

Even Narayana deplored that that they didn’t receive any positive gesture from TRS Party, after they have submitted the list of the constituencies the party is willing to contest. He said the same list was submitted to Congress too.

According to sources, the Congress is ready to consider accommodate CPI in about 20 assembly constituencies, but is not ready to share in Lok Sabha seats. Though a section of Congress leaders are of the view Khammam seat may be left for CPI as there are many from Congress claiming this seat and it would become problem for the party to select any one in view of deep-rivalary.
