New Delhi : Adding to its impressive list of awards and accolades, Sehwag International School (SIS), founded by cricketer Virender Sehwag in 2011, has been adjudged among Asia’s 100 fastest growing private educational institutions.

From_Left_to_Right_-_Mr._Dhirendra_Singh,SIS_Principal__Ms._Aarti_Sehwag,_SIS_Chairperson_and_Ms._Ritu_Khanna,_SIS_Director__with_the_awardThe award was presented at Asian Excellence Education Summit organised at The ITC Sheraton here yesterday by WCRC Leaders Asia, a prestigious Dubai-based magazine that shortlisted the 100 educational institutions, ranging from basic, primary and secondary schools to the most specialized centres of higher learning.

“This award is a huge endorsement of the growing credibility of the school, which provides quality education and excellent sports facilities in a unique manner,” said a beaming Mrs. Aarti Sehwag, Chairperson of SIS, a 23-acre multi-activity campus in Jhajjar, south of upscale Gurgaon in Haryana.

“The school is only into its third year, and the award will surely give a flip to our sustained efforts to position it as a coveted institution for students,” she added.

SIS, India’s only school to be founded by a cricketer of international repute, is a co-ed, Day-cum-Boarding scholarship institution. The school follows CBSE syllabus and is poised to teach its first class X batch in 2014-15. The school boasts of an eco-friendly campus that includes a Haryana cricket association approved cricket ground, world-class facilities for athletics, basketball, badminton, equestrian, football, golf, lawn tennis, table tennis and squash, besides having a swimming pool.

“Our school accommodates day scholars along with boarders. Even as we have students from across India and even abroad, we ensure that our endeavour also benefits local people as well. Their children can go back home every day; the expense is thus less,” says Mrs. Sehwag.

The aim of SIS is to ensure that “our comprehensive development programmes provide students with an international learning experience, while preserving our core Indian values. With such qualities imbibed within them, our students are bound to ‘Arise, Awake, Ascend’ to greater heights and a greater tomorrow.”

SIS has earned plaudits from a number of top cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Gautam Gambhir and Sourav Ganguly. The school was earlier ranked No.1 in Haryana in Day-cum-Boarding Category by Education World, a leading magazine of the country.
