The Cyclone Gaja has weakened into a deep depression Friday afternoon and is moving through interior Tamil Nadu towards Kerala.

Met Department in Chennai said, it is gradually weakening into a depression and at present lays centred at 170 km east-northeast of Kodaikanal and 70 km northeast of Kochi.

Many places in south interior Tamil Nadu are expected to receive rain for the next twenty-four hours, as weather officials have said.

Meanwhile, relief measures are being carried out on a war-footing in the affected places in Tamil Nadu.

So far, officials have confirmed the death of thirteen people so far due to the cyclone that crossed the shores early this morning south of Nagapattinam.
