The situation in Darjeeling continues to be tense. With the indefinite protests by the GJM showing no signs of fading, the hill district is bracing itself for further demonstrations. The West Bengal government has sent a report on the on-going violence to the Union Home Ministry while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left for the Netherlands tour on Monday. Centre has dispatched a company of 125 women security personnel to help restore peace in the hills. On Monday, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had appealed to protesters not to resort to violence and instead hold dialogue to resolve any issue.
