Haflong  : people of entire Harangajao in particular and of Dima Hasao in general were in mourning following the recovery of kidnapped Santosh Hojai’s dead body buried near Lailing on National Highway under Langting Police station yesterday.

Santosh Hojai, a business man of Harangajao was abducted by unknown gunmen from his house during the nationwide lockdown on April 24.

Since his abduction the people were in search of Hojai as a result of which, Golonjo Thaosen, Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous while he stopped there to respond nature’s call noticed a place near Lailing on NH 54 where fresh soil was excavated, he immediately informed the Langting police station. In presence of police and other officials the body was recovered.

According to Hojai’s wife, on 24th April 2020 a group of 5 unidentified persons in civil uniform with sophisticated weapons came to their resident at around 6 pm asking for the owner of the JCB as they were adding that their alto car was stuck in nearby area for which they need help to drag out the stuck vehicle but when her husband (Sri Santosh Hojai ) had approached them at once they dragged him inside their white new bolero and took him away’.

While demanding a high level enquiry to the incident, many organizations condemned the kidnapping and killing of Hojai vehemently.
