    Haflong : The Dehangi Mega Angling Tournament organised by the Sampariphang Youth Club of  Dehangi concluded with the distribution of prizes and followed by a spectacular traditional dances from different ethnic groups of Dima Hasao on Saturday.

     

    With  the initiative of Shri Debolal Gorlosa, Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council, Dima Hasao, and with the motto of “CAST FOR A CAUSE”, three mega angling tournament in a row i.e. monthly had been organised on July 26, August 24 and September 14.

     

    Also for promotion of conservative angling with rod and reel, boosting tourism and engagement of youths in the field of self-employment through adventure sports like water rafting and angling in the region, the three mega monthly angling tournament at Dehangi was decided to be held every year.

     

    This mega event is organized with support from Department of Forest, Fisheries and Tourism.

    It is learnt that during the Angling tournament use of plastic would remain banned and organic food will be arranged in and around the Angling spot.

    In the final and concluding round held of Saturday, 1st prize was bagged by Bijol Hojai of Haflong, 2nd prize by M Kathar of Karbi Anglong and the 3rd prize was bagged by P Hrangkhol of Zion village of Haflong.

    The prize giving ceremony was attended by attended by Chief Executive Member, Debolal Gorlosa as chief guest, MLA B B Hagjer, Chairperson Ranu Langthasa, Executive Members, Nipolal Hojai, Samuel Changsan, MACs Nobojit Langthasa, Projit Hojai, CCF M Tungnung etc among others.

    CEM Gorlosa addressing the media appreciated all the participants, organizers, media person for their active support in making this mega event a grand success. The participation in this  mega event by people from various communities from various places would give major boost in maintaining brotherhood relations among the people living in this beautiful district of Dima Hasao. He also said that Dehangi Angling would be a yearly event of Dehangi to promote tourism and conservation of rare species of fishes and other wild animals.
