here on a three-day visit to Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering. The eight member delegation from the College of Business Administration (CBA) of CMU, comprising four faculty members and four students, has been hosted by Delhi School of Management (DSM), the on-campus B-school of DTU.

Welcoming the delegates, Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, said, “This visit provides an excellent opportunity to students and faculty members of both the institutions to brain storm on innovative management practices. We would be keen to explore the possibility of students exchange and internships with CMU.” He also made a presentation on Research & Innovations at DTU for the visitors. Those present on the occasion included Prof. Moin Uddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor, DTU and Prof. S.K. Garg, Head of Department, DSM, besides the faculty members and students of DSM.

According to Dr. Debasish Chakraborty, Director, MBA Program – Economics, CBA, who is leading the delegation, “In today’s global economy, you cannot succeed unless you have an international exposure. Human interaction is important to understand how businesses are conducted across the world. The objective behind our visit is to come to a basic understanding and agreement on how we can mutually benefit each other.”

Other faculty members of the delegation provided an insight into CMU and its academic environment. In his presentation, Dr. Randall Hayes from Accounting Department of CBA spoke about the teaching pedagogy adopted at their business school. He said, “Class-room instructions at CBA include minimal lectures but more of case-studies, projects, paper presentations, web-based learning and homework for students.” Similarly, Dr. Deborah Chubb, from Marketing Department of CBA informed as to how doing short consultancy projects with local, small businesses have been particularly helpful and good learning experience for the management students.

Students of DTU had several questions on the academic programmes at CBA, specializations available, admission process for international students, availability of financial aid etc., which were satisfactorily answered by Dr. Anil Kumar, faculty member of Management Information System of CBA. The visiting students also highlighted about the flexible mode of the courses which allows one to study both online as well as in classroom, as per convenience. The visiting delegates also had an opportunity to interact with representatives from Indian industries including Mr. Vikas Chaudhary, MD, Logwell and Ms. Jaishree Sharma, DGM-HR, IRCON Ltd. The delegates from CMU will also visit Industries like Maruti Udyog & Autometers, as a part of their visit.
