  • Delhi Assembly Polls: 339 FIRs registered under Excise Act for violation of Model Code of Conduct

    In the National Capital, as many as 339 FIRs have been registered under the Excise Act since the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in Delhi in view of the upcoming Assembly elections.

    As per Delhi Chief Electoral Office, 347 people have been arrested under the Excise Act for the violation of the poll code. Till yesterday, a total of 87 entries, including 82 FIRs and five daily diaries have been lodged, out of which 79 were under the category of others or non-political.

    Over 4.46 lakh posters, banners and hoardings have been removed by civic bodies in compliance with the poll code.

    More than three thousand licensed arms have been deposited as a preventive measure. Over 78 lakh rupees in cash has also been seized by the police till yesterday. Polling for Delhi Assembly elections will be held on 8th of next month and counting of votes will take place on 11th February.
