Gangtok: The capital town of Sikkim, popularly tagged as the window to the Himalayas, Gangtok is witnessing an increasing number of tourists from around the country due to its scenic charm and beauty. The major attractions of the city being a Tibetan Buddhist center, attracting monks from Nepal, Ladakh, Himachal etc. With Workcation being the popular trend among millennial, young hikers from Pan-India are coming to explore the beautiful city of Gangtok. It is considered to be the base for hikers and trekkers for going through Sikkim’s Himalayan mountain ranges.

A popular and thrilling tourist attraction in the city has been the ropeway, beginning from Deorali Bazar which is adjacent to the most happening place of Sikkim “Mahatma Gandhi Marg.” The market is bustling with enthusiastic tourists and their families. The entire ropeway, situated in the heart of the city is being managed by Damodar  Ropeways and Infra Limited is easily accessible by locals and tourists. It was built in the year 2003, connecting market place to the Tashiling Secretariat via Sikkim Legislative Assembly. The services commences in the morning around 9 am and go up to 5 pm in the evening.

The visitors enjoy a panoramic view of the full Gangtok city while taking a ride in this ropeway. It also helps in de-congestion of the city, as people can conveniently traverse between two parts of the city using the ropeway.
