Hyderabad : The Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI), an Indian association that promotes business enterprises for Dalits founded in the year 2005 is on “a mission to develop social economic leadership” announced its founder Milind Kamble.
On first stage we brought Dalit entrepreneurs on a single platform, on the second, we worked on policy interventions facilitated changes to ensure a level playing field for Dalit industrialists to compete with their peers from different spheres of the business, he added
This is our third phase. And it is a crucial one. It is the phase to deliver results. We have been successful in creating financial linkages, tie-ups for Dalit business enterprises to encash stated Milind Kamble, Founder and Chairman of 14years old industrial body while addressing the General Body of DICCI Telangana Chapter which was assembled at FTAPCCI at Red Hills on Saturday night. The General Body was called to choose and nominate the new body for the Telangana Chapter for the year 2019-2020.
Milind Kamble announced the new body comprised of Katharapaka Ravi Kumar as President; Banoth Ramesh Naik, Senior Vice President; Muneedhar, Aruna Dasari as Vice President. The current DICCI Telangana President Rahul Kiran, elevated as Vice President of South India. Puttapaga Srinivas, Venkat Avens and Bobby were given tasks as National Vertical Heads for MSME, Seminars & Exhibitions and Civil Aviation respectively. The first time a women entrepreneur was taken into the state body as the Vice President.
Speaking immediately after he was appointed, the newly taken over President Ravi Kumar, who is into water purification business, said that his goal for the year would be to produce ten entrepreneurs from each district of Telangana in next one year. I would be the result oriented leader. I dedicate my life this year for the cause of Dalit entrepreneurship, he added.
Milind Kamble has been responsible to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship between the Dalit youths in India. Some of the key members of DICCI are Padmasri Narra Ravi Kumar, Kalpana Saroj, Chandra Bhan Prasad, and Rajesh Saraiya and many other.
Speaking about Affirmative Action in the USA to end any form of discrimination, Milind Kamble said, sixty years later, today, Black Americans proved that they are not less than anybody and showcased their talent to the whole world. Today 10 percent of US GDP is contributed by Black Owned Business Entreprises. DICCI is planned on a similar model. Capital can break caste system, market and money will defeat anti-capital Marx and Manu he told the gathering.
He told Dalit entrepreneurs to embrace new opportunities that were being emerged. We need positive leadership. We are on a mission to create 20 to 25 entrepreneurs in every District of the country. Currently, India has 750 districts and we aim to reach out to a minimum of 500 Districts and create 20 to 25 entrepreneurs from each District and link them to DICCI, he told the whose-who of Dalit Business Leaders gathering. Right now we have linked to 300 districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Padmasri Narra Ravi Kumar, National Working President of DICCI said, “it is generally perceived by other communities that the successful SC/ST entrepreneurs are products are ‘reservation’, but actually not. Arguing his case, he stated that, Dr. B R Ambedkar, the messiah of Dalits and downtrodden is not a product of reservations, the 10,000 DICCI members, who are successful entrepreneurs are not products of Dalits”. We will change this perception. We are moving to a situation of job givers from the stage of job seekers, we are taxpayers. From the days of loan takers from banks, we have become business givers to bankers, he told. Today Dalit are most successful contractors, business enterprises, he revealed.
Speaking about his plans to expand DICCI beyond capitals cities and urban towns, he said that it would be expanded to Districts and Mandals in phased manner. 22.5 percent of Indian population is Dalits. In Telangana alone, we have one crore Dalits. The best way to develop them is to develop SC and ST Business Leadership, Ravi Kumar added. Under his leadership, DICCI made significant strides not just in South India.
Vertical Heads for over two dozen verticals of great importance, District and Zonal Coordinators too were appointed.
