  • Differently able young writer Juwala Borah of Assam’s Nagaon district to receive Debsons Literary Talent Award,2021-22

    Mangaldai :  Differently able young promising writer from Bebejia- Dimou in Nagaon district Juwala Borah will receive the fifth Debsons Special Literary Talent Award 2021-22 . The award carries a cash prize of rupees one lakh,  a citation,  a sawl,  a bundle of books and a bouquet. This has been announced before media  by Dr Amarendra Narayan Deb , the senior most director of the Debsons group in presence of other directors of Runu Debi , Arindam Narayan Deb and Bithika Narayan Deb here on Tuesday synchronizing the eighteenth foundation day of Debsons nursing home.

    The award will be delivered ceremonially in the month of October, Dr Deb added.  Juwala Borah , a talented young writer who has been on wheel chair for the last twenty six years after her spinal chord was seriously injured in an accident at an early age of fourteen years . Juwala so far has three published books to her credit . Her first book titled “Bedanar mitha madakaota” , a collection of poems was published in 2013 while she published her autobiography “Moi jantranak joy korar pon loiso ” in 2016 .  In the year 2020 she published her third book,  a novel titled ” Mounatar kolahol ‘ .

    Talking to this correspondent over phone Juwala expressed her joy and delight for being selected for this award.  ” You have given me this good news.  I  have talked to Dr Deb sir , but he didn’t mention it . Perhaps he would inform me later on. Anyway I am very much delighted. This is really very good news for me amid some tragic news in recent times. It will definitely inspire me to carry forward my literary journey in a more qualitative manner.” , Juwala opined. It’s worth mentioning here that earlier four other differently able young promising writers of the State namely- Rashmi Rekha Bhuyan,  Jesminara Begum,  Sarmistha Preetam and Dhrubajyoti Das have received the award sponsored by the Mangaldai based business group since 2015 .

    The award is now presented biennially after given annually upto 2016 . Meanwhile the foundation day celebration of the Debsons nursing home witnessed hearty farewell felicitation to Siddhi Ram Nath , a staff of the health institution who has just retired after delivering dedicated service for four decades along with Dr Amarendra Narayan Deb since long before its establishment. Lyricist and former president of Darrang Zila Sahitya Sabha Sahir Bhuyan and singer Inamul Haque were also feted to show gratitude for scripting and composing the theme song of the Debsons nursing home.
