  • Dima Hasao celebrates 72nd Independence Day

    Haflong :With rest of the country the district of Dima Hasao, the most beautiful district of Assam celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with great enthusiasm at the Kendriya Vidyalaya Playground near Assam Rifles on Wednesday.

    The chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa unfurled the tricolour in presence MLA B B Hagjer, Deputy Commissioner, Amitabh Rajkhowa, Superintendent of Police Prashanta Saikia and a host of prominent personalities.

     

    Unfurling the tricolour on the occasion of the 72nd Independence day attending the ceremony as the Chief guest, CEM Debolal Gorlosa Addressed the people of Dima Hasao at the public speech at central celebration in Haflong . The chief guest and the other guests offered floral tribute to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi before the beginning of the programme.

    Hundreds of people from all walks of life came to witness the programme. The District Administration along with various departments organised the programme in a grand and successful manner. In the function as many as six high schools of the district, all the toppers of HSLC and HSSLC were felicitated and Prizes were given away to the winners of various competitions held as a part of the pre Independence Day celebration during past few days.

    Under the the Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana, the department of Agriculture ceremonially distributed 5 tractors out of 114 numbers to the beneficiaries of the district while rest of the beneficiaries were to receive in a phase manner from the office.

    Fruits and sweets were distributed to jail inmates, patients of Haflong Civil Hospital, orphanage by Dy Director of Food &Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs, Haflong.

    All most all the Communities of the district like Dimasa, Jeme, Hrangkhol, Jaintia, Biate, Kuki, Assamese, Bengali, and Manipuri etc performed their traditional dances which kept the audience spellbound.

    In the end of the programme prizes were distributed to the participants of the march past, cultural programme so as to encourage them. Awards were also given out achievers in various fields such as best performing head headmaster, safai karmachari, Asha workers etc.

    Dima Hasao Bubli the journal of the NCHAC published by the department of Information and Public Relations of Dima Hasao was distributed to everyone present during the occasion at the celebration venue in Haflong and Maibang. The department also released two books in the hands of Debolal Gorlosa, CEM. The books named as ‘History of the Dimasas & Other writings of S.R. Thaosen’ by Vandana Thaosen        and ‘A brief account of the tribes of Dima Hasao Assam’ by Ramdina Lalsim.

    The programme was attended by MLA BB Hagjer, executive members and members of NCHAC, officers and staff from 22 sector Assam Rifles, 43 Assam Rifles, Assam Police, various entrusted departments, departments under council and district administration.

    Whereas in sub division of Dima Hasao Maibang, the programme was also held in a grand manner with people from surrounding villages witnessed the programme. Civil SDO N K Debnath, ACS unfurled the tricolour accompanied by SDPO Mayank Kumar, IPS. The programme was held at Dishru filed in Maibang where hundreds of people attended.
