Haflong  : The Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner also the Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority Sri Amitabh Rajkhowa profoundly appreciated the villagers and it’s Gaon Buras along with the frontline warriors of Covid 19  for their active cooperation at the time of Nation’s crisis.

In an interview,  Rajkhowa who has been supervising the entire management relating to Covid 19 explained that  in the beginning it was seemed to be difficult considering the location, lack of proper communication and infrastructure but as the days passed by everything has come to be manageable, thanks for the people of the district and other stakeholders.

DC said meanwhile we have arranged vegetables to be sold at various locations while grocery and medicines shops are kept open so that people do not face difficulties during the period of lockdown. This has encouraged the people to abide by the lockdown norms and maintained social distances. He also informed that as many as 35 numbers of beds for Covid 19 treatment and 5 beds for ICU have been arranged at the new building of Haflong Civil Hospital and for some works PWD department is alerted.

Rajkhowa further said, though it was not easy task to maintain the total lockdown in a backward district like Dima Hasao in many ways but the people’s active and wholehearted cooperation, the total lockdown and maintenance of government norms related covid 19 was possible.

As a precautionary measure and to maintain social distances, several village administrations have restricted the random entry of outsiders into the villages in and around Haflong town.

Along with the entire Nation, the villagers of Fiangpui, Upper Bagetar, Lodi, Boildura etc have come up to fight deadly Corona by restricting the entry of outsiders in to the villages.

Village Defense Party popularly known as the VDP have been formed in all most all the villages and the volunteers are assigned to guard the every entry point of the villages round the clock. Numbers of youths have been assigned to guard putting gate at the entry of the villages.

At a time when there are people found to be violated the lockdown norms but here in Dima Hasao the VDP has gained tremendous appreciation for engaging youths for maintain social distance and other lockdown norms.

People are of the opinion that during this world crisis all section of the people should come forward to fight against this pandemic unitedly.
