Haflong: Following the notification of the Election Commission of India about the dates for the ensuing Assam Assembly Election, the Dima Hasao District Administration convened a meeting with the political parties at the DC’s conference hall in Haflong, on Wednesday.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner cum Dist. Election Officer Paul Barua, ACS to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections in 16-Haflong (ST) LAC. The meeting was attended by representatives of all the political parties besides, senior officials of Dima Hasao District Administration, Addl. SP and District Information and Public Relations Officer.

During the meeting, they were informed about the announcement of election by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Model Code of Conduct which has already come into effect. The political parties were asked to strictly abide by the Model Code of Conduct as per the ECI guidelines and were requested to cooperate with the district election officials in keeping the Model Code in letter and spirit.
