  • Dima Hasao Tourism was conferred the “Most Promising Tourist Place of Assam 2018 Award”

    Haflong : In a glittering event held on 11h August evening at Pragjyoti ITA, Guwahati, Dima Hasao Tourism was conferred the ” Most Promising Tourist Place of Assam 2018 Award” by Byatikram MASDO, a Guwahati-based Social Organisation in its 14th Edition of Annual Awards Ceremony.

    Shri Kulendra Daulagupu, Executive Member, Tourism, NC Hills Autonomous Council, accompanied by Nirmendu Kemprai Deputy Director of Tourism received the award from renowned Ghazal Maestro, Padmashri Pankaj Udhas.

    Citation of the Award reads, “….To Dima Hasao Tourism (NC Hills Autonomous Council) for conserving the beauty of Dima Hasao’ and making it one of the mast beautiful places of Assam. We are delighted to inform you that according to Assam Tourism, Dima Hasao is the most rated tourist location which is visited by maximum number of tourist every year in comparison to any other tourist point of Assam.”

    Briefing the media persons at a small function held at Nothao Lodge, Haflong on 12th August evening, Tourism EM Shri Kulendra Daulagupu said that the Award is the recognition of the hard efforts put forward by the various tourism stakeholders including NGOs and community organisations in the district, spearheaded by the tourism department for making Dima Hasao a vibrant tourist destination. During the last two years, Dima Hasao Tourism has organised, supported or participated in the various tourism events and activities in and outside Dima Hasao. Mention may be made that it has been continuously been supporting Judima Festival and Falcon Festival for the last three years. It hosted the Annual General Conference of the Tour Operators Association of Assam (TOAA) last year at Haflong. It had participated in International Travel Mart, 2 consecutive Rongali Festivals in Guwahati and Tourism Festival in New Delhi as well as sent representatives/NGOs to Hornbill Festival in Nagaland and Mango Festival in Siliguri. It had also sponsored an exposure trip for Judima Festival Organizing Committee and other organisations to Mwlynnong in Meghalaya for familiarization with the home-stay facilities over there last year. Shri Daulagupu specially acknowledged and appreciated the support, encouragement and motivation provided by the Chief Executive Member (CEM) Shri Debolal Gorlosa. It may be mentioned here that under the dynamic leadership of Shri Debolal Gorlosa, a number of connectivity network development projects is underway and a total of 21 (Twenty One) departmental bungalows/guest houses/circuit house have either been newly built or renovated. 7 (Seven) more such properties are under the process of completion. All such facilities have solved accommodation problem to a great extent. Tourism EM Shri Daulagupu dedicated the Award to the NC Hills Autonomous Council headed by the CEM Shri Debolal Gorlosa and the people of Dima Hasao. Last but not the least, Shri Daulagupu also lauded the role, support and cooperation of the local media persons in highlighting and promoting the tourism sector of Dima Hasao in various media platforms- print, electronic and social media.
