    Discover the versatility of Peruvian superfoods

    New Delhi: The global clean and healthy eating movement is seeing renewed interest in Peruvian food products for the quality of their produce and superior nutritional value. It is no surprise then that Peruvian produce is having its culinary moment after having hit the Indian market with much enthusiasm.

    Scientists believe that the ancient cultures of Peru were the first to domesticate potatoes for human consumption. Potatoes are a Peruvian legacy to the whole of humanity. Peru has almost 4 thousand different varieties of potatoes. They come in all shapes, sizes and colors. But Peru has much more to offer.

    Quinoa is an Andean plant which originated in the area surrounding Lake Titicaca in Peru and Bolivia, which is a gluten-free grain and a source of a high level of protein and essential amino acids. Peru is home to 3000 varieties of it.

    During 2020, Peru exported 287 metric tons of organic golden berry, which represented more than 200 million dollars in sales abroad. A rich source of vitamins and minerals, golden berries help in reducing inflammation, cholesterol levels and calms autoimmune diseases and some neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, golden berries are also known to contain antioxidants and this helps to strengthen one’s cardiovascular system.
