Haflong  :The Dima Hasao District Administration prepared to conduct the biggest festival of democracy that is election to the 16 (ST) Haflong peacefully despite of unavoidable constrains like terrain, lack of communications etc, said Md Abdul Kalam, Election Officer, Dima Hasao on Monday.

Talking to this correspondent, Kalam said to conduct the election smoothly more than 2000 men power were engaged, the whole district is divided into 11 zones and 67 sectors against 246 polling stations. This time all together 1, 46,183 out of which 73,463 are males 72,720 are females while PWD voters and 80+ voters are 245 and 1755 respectively. 

In regards to the preparedness of law and order, Superintendent of Police Jayant Sing IPS said to instill confidence among the voters sufficient police force is deployed for domination of the area. After the 1^st phase of election in Assam more troupes security forces are expected to reach here so that the election was conducted peacefully. Meanwhile 3000 liters of illicit liquors was destroyed and 2800 numbers of guns were seized also teams are engaged to keep vigil on movement of such illegal subjects. They are also keeping eyes so that the voters are intimidated or influenced by dishonest elements.
