District youth inch ahead of Bangalore youth to make a future at Unnati

Bengaluru:  Prashant from Belgaum and Kiran from Bangalore are eagerly explaining about paints, solvents and chemicals as part of their Industrial Painting training and they have hope in their eyes. Their journey post SSLC has been a long and difficult one soon to culminate with a respectable job in an MNC. Sachin from Shimoga and Ashok from Bangalore are securing skills from the retail faculty and hope to secure loyal customers for Automobile retail/showrooms. Sunita from Mandya and Rajashekar from Anantpur district of Andhra are typing away at their keyboards as they would soon be placed in a BPO.

Cine actress, Pooja Gandhi through Mahila Sanghas has encouraged quite a few ladies to skill themselves at Unnati and improve their standard of living. Her commitment continues as she often visits Unnati to make sure that these ladies are equipping themselves towards a brighter and secure future.

The 28th batch of Unnati saw a close run between district youth and Bangalore youth. There were 145 youth who turned up at Unnati at the commencement of the 28th batch and 88 showed the courage and determination to improve their English, equip themselves with lifeskills and become computer literate besides mastering their vocation. 35 youth from the districts of Karnataka (Kolar, Bellary, Belgaum, Shimoga, Gulbarga), 32 from Bangalore and 14 from Andhra Pradesh indicate the mix in the 28th batch of Unnati.

By the 2nd of July, 2011, all the students of 28th batch of Unnati would have secured a campus job, ready to earn a living. Unnati, on the other hand, will get ready for its 29th batch with interviews scheduled for 9th July.
