  • Doctors to support voting by offering discounts as a part of initiative by Indian Medical Academy

Mumbai:  A massive initiative organized by Indian Medical Academy called ‘Indian Medical Academy’s Voting Campaign’ aims to motivate people to vote and avail of consultation discounts upto 50% from city’s leading healthcare practitioners. This week long campaign will be kick started from the very next day of voting, with the voter displaying his inked finger to avail the discount.

“In an effort to make a difference to our society, this philanthropic contribution by the medical fraternity wishes to motivate people to cast their vote and strengthen our age old democratic process. That is why even I will be giving discounts to people who would show the voting ink mark”, said Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Honorary secretary of Indian Medical Academy, National Chapter.

Indian Medical Academy’s website will be hosting the name of the doctors providing election special discounts. Patients who would like to avail can contact them from the website.

As the election battleground heats with the various contenders dishing out their best, there is still an issue plaguing the voting system; to motivate the masses to vote and exercise their right to make an informed choice. Healthcare as a department needs an overhaul because people hold a curative mindset as opposed to a prophylactic one. This campaign aims to banish both.

Lack of awareness and inertia for early diagnosis has resulted in exacerbation of seemingly innocuous conditions like asthma, allergies etc. Similarly our Nation’s health also needs attention and exercising one’s voting rights is the solution. This election season has given the voter more than one reason to cast their vote and get their health checked too.
