DOT Philippines organises the Kolkata Business Mission

The Philippines Tourism Marketing Office, India is planning to roll out a series of roadshows in new growth markets in India, starting from Kolkata on February 11, 2014.  After the success of the four-city roadshow organised last year, the Department of Tourism, Philippines’ (DOT) is looking forward to another year of success and ‘Fun’. During these promotions, the Philippines will showcase its portfolio of tourism products and a line-up of activities that travellers can indulge in while visiting the country.

Mr. SanJeet, Tourism Attaché, Philippines Tourism Marketing Office, India said, “We will take this opportunity to leverage on our tourism product offerings and attract the Indian traveller to achieve the target of 10 million tourist arrivals by 2016 to the Philippines. ”

Raymund Glen Agustin, Head, Team India, DOT; Luisa A. Llave, Member, Team India, DOT; will address the agents and the media at the event. Renowned Yoyo trickers – Joshua Rafael Geronimo Davis and James Diaz Davis, Jr will also be present to add the ‘Fun’ quotient to the event.

As on October 2013, the country registered 3,867,386 visitor arrivals and the country still continues to draw a large number of tourist influxes from all over the world. The Department of Tourism (DOT), Philippines in a survey stated that the country achieved an increase of 11.9% above last year’s arrival figures for the same period. The country had recorded 3,478,285 arrivals in 2012 in these months. The Indian market generated 42,860 tourists in 2013 as against 30,108 in 2012 showing a 12.47% growth.
